Barnacle is a lampshade exploring the relationship between form and material, by using paper. Designed for a wall-mounted context, the lighting device features a curved base and is coated in panels that mimic mesh-like fabric. To create an illusion of volume through the flexibility of the paper, I focused on the paper’s transparent quality that can be highlighted when set against a light source.
